Our story, like most success stories, start with humble beginnings. A sister store to the institution that is Max’s on Oak Street, our Cambie and 8th location was a regular haunt for locals and office workers hungry for a quality homemade meal. Little known to many, a full production bakery has operated underneath our floors for nearly 20 years, and supplies Max’s, Stuart’s Bakery, and other local businesses with mouth-watering baked goods and cakes.

Cambie Street has flourished in recent years, what was once a strictly office/industrial area is now a booming city center with an influx of families and new businesses. In 2009, a big bad wolf moved into our neighbourhood, and we decided it was time for a change.

It started with a simple concept, the hamburger. We thought burgers in Vancouver were fine and dandy, but that there was room for improvement and that we were up to the task. Using some tricks like hand-spun milkshakes, house-infused bacon vodka, and beef tallow in our fryers, we’re bringing back that old-school flavour with a new-school twist. It doesn’t hurt that our brioche buns are baked fresh downstairs every single morning, and you can taste the difference. Not to mention, Mike and the crew at Tenderland Meats are grinding our Alberta AA chuck fresh daily as well! Fresh, quality ingredients treated with respect, what more can you ask for?

Redpath Foods has been known as a family company for years, and we’ve stuck with that. Founded and owned by Bruce Redpath, sons Tyler and Travis have recently returned to the company to solidify that foundation. Both grew up in the business, bussing tables, cooking in the deli, driving the delivery truck, and anything else that needed doing. After a hiatus from the company, Tyler has returned as General Manager for Redpath Foods. Travis returns to Max’s Burgers as General Manager, having picked up invaluable experience with some of the cities most successful downtown restaurant groups.

We threw open our doors in early 2012, and haven’t looked back. We can’t wait to see what this summer will bring, and look forward to seeing you living the ‘burg life’ alongside us!
